【News】SOCSO announces plans for construction of the National Centre for Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics

On June 11, in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, our business partner, the Social Security Organization (SOCSO), a Malaysian government-affiliated organization, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the National Neuro-Robotic and Cybernics Centre, one of the largest medical complex in Southeast Asia.

The outline of National Neuro-Robotic and Cybernics Centre

The National Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Centre is scheduled for construction in Bandar Meru Raya, a new area being developed in Ipoh, Perak, northern Malaysia. The grounds of the new center is going to be 37 hectares and will simultaneously enable about 700 patients to receive comprehensive treatment for a period of time, making it one of the largest medical complex in Southeast Asia. Construction is scheduled to be completed around the end of 2024.

Visit of the Malaysian Minister of Human Resources and others to the Company

Prior to the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan of Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources, who is leading the project, SOCSO Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa Bin Hj Abdullah, and Malaysian Human Resources Development Fund Chairman Datuk Jamil Bin Salleh and others visited CYBERDYNE in May 2022 for future expansion of Cybernics Treatment.

In Malaysia, Cybernics Treatment using HAL for SOCSO-insured patients continues to expand through the public workers compensation insurance provided by SOCSO. As of May 31, 2022, there are 92 HAL in operation at ten facilities in Malaysia.

Through continued close collaboration with the Malaysian government, SOCSO, and others, CYBERDYNE will continue to promote the social implementation of various Cybernics Technologies, including HAL for Medical Use, to build an ecosystem that contributes to the return of people to society and the workplace, aiming for a healthy and long-lived society where all people can enjoy healthy and enriched lives.

*SOCSO (Malaysian Public Social Security Organization)
SOCSO has four functions: disability pension, survivor’s pension, medical coverage and occupational injury coverage, and is compulsory for Malaysian and foreign workers in Malaysia to join the program. It provides medical compensation, disability compensation, funeral benefits, child support and nursing care benefits for illness or injury that occurs while commuting to and from work.
